The Omey Races is the only non point-to-point pony beach racing event in Ireland. Experience a full day out of unique pony racing, local food and drinks stalls, live music, vendors of pony equipment, local crafts such as hats and baskets, and of course a line of bookies ready to give you some tempting odds on the ponies.
Connemara Pony Show
The Connemara Pony Show is a world famous event attracting visitors from all over the world. Dating back to 1924, there are over 400 ponies on show, making it the largest display of Connemara Ponies anywhere in the world. Visitors are treated to the spectacle of seeing the ponies demonstrate their prowess in trials and competitions under the watchful eye of experienced judges.
The Point Pony Trekking Centre
The Point Pony Trekking and Horse Riding centre is situated right beside some of Connemara’s most stunning beaches along the Atlantic Ocean coast. The centre offers daily one or two hour beach rides, suitable for all levels of riding with longer treks available on request. All their rides are accompanied by experienced staff.
Ower Equestrian Centre
Ower Equestrian Centre is a family run equestrian centre which offer a range of horse riding jumping lessons for all ages and levels. It makes for a great time for anyone who has an interest in equestrian sports. The centre also runs Pony camps during the Spring and Summer months.
Moycullen Riding Centre
Moycullen Riding Centre offers one and two hour treks for individuals, couples, families and larger groups. The treks go over bog road and across mountains in the beautiful Connemara region, overlooking Lough Corrib. Alternatively they offer a beach ride on Rusheen Bay. The centre also offer private and group lessons for beginners and experience riders.
Galway Equestrian Centre
Galway Equestrian Centre, a family run centre, provides horse riding lessons for beginners to advanced or competitive showjumping. The centre consists of both outdoor and indoor arenas so horse riding can take place, whatever the weather.
Feeney’s Riding Stables
Feeney’s Riding School is a family run equestrian centre which provides lessons, scenic treks, summer, easter, halloween and christmas pony camps in addition to private classes for individuals and groups. All equipment is provided and horses are paired based on individuals experience level.
Rockmount Riding Centre
Rockmount Riding Centre is one of the oldest and largest riding Centres in the West of Ireland and provides riding lessons for all level of riders. Children and adults from the complete beginner to the most advanced rider are catered for.
Creagh Equestrian Centre
Creagh Equestrian Centre boasts a state of the art indoor arena and an all-weather outdoor arena making it the perfect venue for riding lessons and show jumping.
Dartfield Horse Riding
It may be known more for its museum of the Irish horse and Connemara ponies, but Dartfield also provide horse riding lessons & trekking for all levels. You can also challenge yourself on their cross country course.
Errislannan Riding Centre
Errislannan Riding Centre provide hour long riding and trekking on Connemara ponies daily, however longer treks can also be arranged. The centre caters for all ages and levels of abilities.
Clonboo Riding School
Riding for pleasure and not under pressure is the motto of the Clonboo Riding School and this is evident in their lessons. All standards of riders, both beginners and advanced, are welcome. Lessons take place in the outdoor menage or in the indoor arena. There is no trekking available at the centre.
Duffy’s Equestrian Centre
Duffys Equestrian Centre is a family run Equestrian Centre which offers top quality training for both horses and riders along with livery facilities.
Flowerhill Equestrian Centre
Whether you are an experienced rider or a total beginner you will enjoy horse and pony trekking at Flowerhill Equestrian centre. You will experience a relaxing trek through beech woods and lanes around the farm and along the Kilcrow river.
Loughrea Equestrian Centre
Loughrea Equestrian Centre caters for all types of riders, from the experienced to the inexperienced. The centre offers a short 2 hour or a longer 4 hour horse/pony trek through local woods or you can try a unique and relaxing trip in a horse drawn carriage (wheelchair friendly). You will be guaranteed some wonderful sights along the trek.
Connemara Equestrian Escapes
Connemara Equestrian Escapes offers week long riding packages and short breaks in Connemara which can be tailored to suit your requirements. The journeys on horseback take in much of the Wild Atlantic Way route and the breath-taking beauty of Connemara’s mountains, lake and Atlantic coastline. Riders will re-live a story each day and gain an insight into the tradition and crafts of Connemara on horseback.
Cleggan Riding Centre
Cleggan Beach Riding Centre offer beach trekking to Omey Island which is not to be missed and equestrian lessons with 3 qualified instructors, ensuring lessons are to competition standard. All equipment is provided and horses and ponies are suitable for beginners to advanced riders.
Knockillaree Riding Centre
Knockillaree Riding Centre is a family run horse riding centre which offers pony trekking, horse riding lessons, jumping lessons, therapeutic riding coaching, livery, breaking & training and stud services. The centre caters for riders of all ages and abilities. Treks will take you through scenic woodlands on the shores of Lough Corrib, or up into the mountains for breath-taking views of the surrounding countryside.
Slieve Aughty Centre
Slieve Aughty Riding Centre have over 30 horses and ponies to suit all riding levels. Riding Lessons are taught by qualified instructors and combine arena exercises, theory and trekking.
