Town Hall Theatre
Galway’s Town Hall Theatre, incorporates a state of the art 400-seater Auditorium and a 60-seater Studio Space providing a whole range of shows and events. In addition, the nearby ‘Black Box’ performance space presents an extensive and eclectic mix of theatre, concerts, musicals, dance and film.
The Druid Theatre Company was the first Irish professional theatre company to be established outside Dublin. Taibhdhearc na Gaillimhe, meaning “Galway Theatre”, is the national Irish language theatre of Ireland. It was founded in 1928. The theatre itself is actually built on the ruins of the city’s original Augustinian friary. The rear wall incorporates a wall from this friary, including some carved stone window frames. Throughout the year the theatre is the venue to many drama and music productions along with occasionally screening international films.
Station House Theatre
Restored within the Original Railway Station Goods Store, the Station House Theatre is a 200 tiered seating facility and is a multi purpose venue which plays host to many music, theatre & cinematic events along with art exhibitions. The theatre hosts many live performances from local, national and international acts and offers a range of styles including Music, Drama, Comedy & Dance.
Galway Arts Centre
The Galway Arts Centre consists of two galleries which house exhibitions of local, national and international acclaim. Various classes and workshops in the arts and performance take place in the centre, performances from the Galway Youth Theatre, along with darkroom facilities for hire. In addition, the Galway Arts Centre also manage the Nuns Island Studio, a restored church building which is equipped to present live performances and visual arts installations.
