Anbally Castle or Tavenagh Castle as it was formerly known, was a 15th century built castle and bawn of the Burke family. The name Anbally translates from the Irish ‘An Bhaile’ meaning ‘great town’. Although now in ruins, there are remains of a spiral staircase within.

Unusually, in the wet winter month, the castle is completely surrounded by water by a nearby turlough.
