Found in the confines of Ballybrit Racecourse, Ballybrit Castle is the ruins of a three-storey castle believed to have been built by the De Burgo (Burke) family.

The castle has been somewhat preserved. It’s narrow and defensive windows suggest the castle was built under a time of political feuds among clans. It is further suggested in folklore that there is an underground connection leading from the castle to a cave in the townland of Two Mile Ditch nearby.
