Bencollaghduff or ‘Binn Dubh’ meaning ‘Black mountain’ is a the third highest mountain of the Twelve Bens mountain range. The peak of the mountain measures to a height of 696 metres (2,283 ft). 

Bencollaghduff is referenced in the award winning novel ‘Star of the Sea’ by Irish novelist Joseph O’Connor when he cites “…the quarzite shale on the slopes of Bencollaghduff”.
