Derryclare Mountain provides stunning views over the Glencoaghan valley. The Irish for the mountain is ‘Doire Chláir’, which could either mean ‘oak-wood of the plain’ or ‘oak-wood of the plank-bridge’.  

It is the 151st highest summit in Ireland with the peak of the mountain measuring to a height of 677 metres (2,221 ft).
