Interestingly, throughout the hotel you can find world class art linking to the historic connections the hotel has. The hotel itself is named after the poet Brian Merriman (1747 – 1805), whom, born in County Clare, was an accomplished violinist and teacher of mathematics, famous for his racy poem, “The Midnight Court”, which runs to over 1000 lines. The poem is full of intricate brilliance and musical mastery.
